Description | Uniting creativity, aesthetics, refinement and responsibility: that is the objective of the ECKART, the annual award of the Witzigmann Academy.
The idea is to create the Oscar for creative, innovative and sustainable projects in the area of food, nutrition and cooking. And who could be better suited to creating a media frenzy than the world’s top chefs? It’s a way of bridging the gap from aesthetics and taste to sustainable production and taking action on clean water provision or healthy canteen catering. Stars include Alex Atala, who supports farmers in the Amazon to market old Inca varieties of rice and special types of chili so as to help them develop a viable business model, and Mick Hucknall, the singer of Simply Red, who restored a river to its natural state in Ireland.
